While conducting a long-range stellar survey along the Federation frontier, the USS Genesis, under the command of Captain Marc Steyn, detects an impossible astronomical signature: a stable, Earth-like planetary system orbiting a supermassive black hole instead of a conventional star. At first, Starfleet believes the sensors are malfunctioning. But the system is real. A paradise world exists where physics says it should not.
